๐คซ 5 Hidden Keys to Transformative Journaling (1,000+ Sessions of Experience)
Mastering Journaling unlocks transformative personal growth and clarity.
But no one ever teaches us how.
For the past 5 years, I have journaled over 1,000 times, tested dozens of systems, and helped +100 people develop life-changing reflection habits.
Here are 5 pieces of advice that will help you gain mental clarity, accelerate personal growth, and make better decisions
๐ง Advice #1: Start with the Brain Dump
When we're first starting out, we think complex prompts matter.
It's not until we fail multiple times that we start to think, "What, specifically?"
It took me 6 months to realize fancy systems weren't what was impacting my growth.
Daily, unstructured thoughts were.
Focus on writing 10 quick, unfiltered thoughts every morningโanything from random ideas, to-dos, worries, observations, goals, or things you're excited about. No rules, no structure. Just 10 honest bullets of whatever is swimming in your mind when you wake up.
This brain clearing creates space for clearer thinking throughout your day.
๐ Advice #2: Structure your reflection timing
We are taught there are only 2 ways to journal:
- Morning pages
- Evening gratitude
But as you continue on your journey, you'll learn that neither of these accomplishes your goal.
What you need to do is create a multi-layered system of daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reviews.
โ Advice #3: Ask better questions
How do you overcome shallow reflection if you've never done deep introspection?
A few things that helped me:
- The bottleneck analysis (What's holding me back and why?)
- The 80/20 life audit (What 20% creates 80% of results?)
- The billion-dollar reflection (What would you not stop for $1B?)
๐คฏ Advice #4: Find your breakthrough moment
A quick story:
The hardest part of my journey was lacking direction. I was experiencing scattered thoughts, surface-level gratitude, and disconnected journaling.
Then, I discovered systematic prompts.
They taught me frequency isn't what matters. Quality questions are.
As soon as I started focusing on better questions, everything changed.
๐ Advice #5: Trust the compound effect
Change happens slowly, and then all at once.
In the beginning, don't be surprised if you experience resistance, inconsistency, and shallow answers.
This is part of the process.
The people who gain profound insights, make better decisions, and transform their lives had to go through that too.
And they have scars & war stories to prove it.
Don't make the same mistakes I did!
Have a great week,
